To build your self-respect... do something worthy of your respect. To like yourself better... do something that makes you likable. It's tempting to think that support and encouragement come from other people.

Iris 问"It's tempting to think" 是什么意思？

Tempting 字典上的解释是「诱人的」，一个想法又怎样具诱惑呢？

我们可以这样理解：面对问题时，我们可能有多种解决方法，大部分人会舍难取易，选择较容易的解决途径，我们就可以用 tempting 来形容这种情况。但平坦大道不一定是正确的路径，所以 tempting 背后的含义，就是指根据这种想法而作出的选择其实是错误的。

举例说，有人指喝红酒有助心脏健康，我们可以说：

It's tempting to think that drinking red wine alone will give you a healthy heart. The truth is that you have to pay attention to your diet and exercise regularly as well.
